Irene Dankelman, MSc.
Irene studied biology and ecology at the Radboud University Nijmegen and Wageningen University. She has specialized in sustainable development, in which she gives special attention to the connection between gender and the environment. She has several publications on the subject to her name , e.g. ‘Women and Environment in the Third World’ (1988; with Joan Davidson) and the 2004 UNEP publication ‘Women and Environment’. For over 25 years now she has worked for NGO’s, universities, and government organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition to her activities for the program Sustainable Development at the Radboud University Nijmegen, first as coordinator and later as lecturer, she is advisor to a number of international initiatives on gender and sustainable development and to the Dutch program Leren voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling.
